What is coming
The last few months helped me recharge my batteries -which was much needed. There's so much for me to be excited about in the near future, for what is likely to come and for the unknown equally!
So close in the 'near future' that it's actually tomorrow: I'll be on TV again for a second participation in Sky Portrait Artist of the Year. My first experience in 2018 had been sooo positive that once the thought of applying again crossed my mind, it was hard to find reasons against.
Shot after the lockdown, it felt even more special and I couldn't contain how happy I was to paint someone from life again. If you want to watch it, it's now accessible for free on channel 8 or online.
Coming pretty soon too, and keeping me fairly busy at the moment is my Grad Show in December. Punctuating a wonderful three years on my Portraiture Diploma at the Art Academy London, I'll be showing work I would never have imagined creating when I first started.
I'll make sure to write a special newsletter then to share this important moment with each of you.
And then 2021 looks like a blank canvas! No longer a student, I'll have to find my feet in being an artist! A lot of paintings are appearing in my head and I can't wait to put them on canvas. After a few months were filled with quick paintings, I'm looking forward to dedicate time to longer projects where I tried to reconcile a few moods and ideas until the painting takes a life of its own.
It's unlikely I'll be able to hold onto my lovely studio for much longer. This place has been so important to me and I don't know how I could have done without for this past year and a half.
However, I now have home, and I've learned with lockdown that I can happily work there too. So I might simply try making it work without a studio, at least at first. The idea is that the less expenses I engage, the less pressure I'm putting on my work, so the more free I feel to paint what I want to paint.
This being said I'll have to find a storage solution for my biggest works (feel free to ping me if you can think of anything!)
From next year, I'll have more time to work on commissions, something that always brings me a lot of joy. I'll also try to be less shy when it comes to selling my work.
I guess I'm writing here to commit myself to trust my work enough, and to let you know that indeed all the paintings are available unless stated otherwise :)
The professional side of art making is a whole other chapter in itself!
One thing I'm incredibly looking forward to do more of is teaching. I love sharing my passion, and don't think I'll ever tire of talking about painting or drawing! Hopefully I'll be able to resume the life drawing evenings I was running for @find.events soon. I'll also work out ways to offer one to one session for those curious to give painting a try, or desiring to take their current practice further. Similarly, I've just been asked to run some One-day introduction to oil painting classes, for which I'll tell more later.
All of that is getting me so excited about the future and all the wonderful encounters and experiences it promises.
